Phonak Hearing Aids
With their experience going as far back as 1947, Phonak produce modern technology and versatile products that offer a life without limitations. Their latest innovation; Nano hearing aid, is their smallest ever digital hearing aid offering a superb level of features and is invisible when worn. Phonak, part of the Sonova group, are a Swiss hearing aid manufacturer and also own Unitron hearing aids.
In the Autumn of 2006, Phonak launched the initiative “Hear the World” which aimed to create awareness for hearing and hearing loss. The goal of Hear the World is to educate the public about the importance of hearing, the social and emotional implications of hearing loss, and the available solutions for those with hearing impairment. World renowned musicians such as Bryan Adams, and Joss Stone supported Hear the World as ambassadors.
Their Q hearing aid portfolio offers the highest level of flexibility with a wide range of options. It is available in three different technology levels the Q90, Q70, Q50, as well as several different physical styles, from the smallest Phonak hearing product, all the way to the most powerful full-concha hearing aid. The popular nano (Invisible-In-Canal, IIC style), is now available in two versions for an even higher fit rate. On top of that, it also comes with the all new MiniControl to allow even more access to an expanding range of soundscapes.
The new Venture Hearing Aid platform is a huge leap forward in technology. With the introduction of Phonak Binaural VoiceStream, Phonak has the unique ability to stream in real-time and bi-directionally. The full audio bandwidth has also led to patient pleasing features like StereoZoom and ZoomControl. Binaural technology sits at the heart of the Phonak Venture and StereoZoom, auto ZoomControl, DuoPhone and Phonak CROS. This was introduced to hearing aid wearers to help focus on a single voice in noisy situations.
Noise is the foe of speech intelligibility. The best way to combat noise is to ensure that it doesn’t enter the hearing aid in the first place. For this reason traditional directional microphones have been successful. They help narrow the focus of amplification excluding noise from the sides and back from entering. When the noise levels are very high and noise also comes from the front, a narrower focus is necessary. By using Binaural VoiceStream Technology the hearing aid is capable of narrowing the focus sufficiently by using a Binaural Network of four microphones. This leads to a significant 3 dB improvement signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) which translates to an improvement in speech intelligibility of up to 45 %. This is also the same technology utilized in Unitron hearing aids. This means more signal, less noise and better understanding in more challenging listening situations. We know that client satisfaction with hearing aids is directly related to the different number of listening environments in which it assists, so for golfers the introduction of Speech in Wind offers a new feature to conquer another sound environment problem.
