“Imagine if you had 72 hours to save your hearing. Who would you turn to? Who could you trust to diagnose the problem correctly and recommend the best solution? I turned to Leon and the Team at the Henley and Chalfont Hearing centre. And (spoiler) they saved my hearing. Monday, I awoke with little hearing in my left ear everything was quiet but metallic. I called The Hearing centre and they rushed to see me immediately.
Having run preliminary tests, he ran some more to dig deeper into the problem. Leon’s test confirmed the problem was severe. He explained that “sudden onset hearing loss” MUST be treated within 72 hours or could result in permanent deafness. The treatment is an inner ear steroid injection (painful!!!) He went beyond the hearing test. Advising me on what to say to my GP explaining how I should explain the urgency to the NHS.
He wrote a letter explaining what was needed for me to use in discussions. The team at Henley urged me not to delay. That was crucial as I was in the process of shrugging off the urgency. I had injection 48 hours later. The consultant told me I was the first person he had ever seen within the 72-hour window! Today (a month later) all is good!
A galaxy of stars!
